Location of Incident:*
Between Alleyway and driveway bordering the property at 125 Main Ave W,Twin Falls ID
DESCRIBE IN DETAIL WHAT DAMAGE OR INJURY OCCURRED:*
I write this claim as an authorized agent of the effected building on behalf of the building owner Eric Evans, who can be reached at 208-420-
7000,and whose address is 3193 Kimberly Rd,Twin Falls ID 83301,and whose email is eric@agri-stor.com.
A puddle of water was noticed by tenants of the buildingaccumulating in the alleyway directly adjacent to the building. The puddle
wasobserved to remain, regardless of rainfall. Then water was discoveredpenetrating parts of the basement walls nearest to the alleyway,
coming in through thewall in the fire riser room, which is closest to where the puddle is.The citywater department was called though they
offered no assistance in diagnosing theproblem, rather we were instructed that if the line was between the main andour building that it was
our responsibility. And while we've worked to diagnoseand resolve the problem ourselves, the water penetration accelerated, ultimately
resulting in a flood of water into our building basement,2 inches deep in some places, anda puddle in the alleyway several feet in width.
We brought in plumbers to check for a leaking water line, but none was found. They instructed us to contact the fire system installer andhave
them check if the fire suppression system was the cause for the leak.Theycame and could only suggest that this diagnoses was likely, but
that we'd needto hire a crew to dig up the line to know for certain.Promptly the crew wehired began their excavation and discovered the line
was neither the firesuppression nor any water lines associated with our building;but rather anold, unmarked and unmapped line the water
department informed us,after we dug it up and discovered it,they hadthought to be abandoned and disconnected, not connected to our
meterwhatsoever, but in reality was not shut off and running water. This line feeds nothing in ourbuilding, but has been leaking, permeating
the ground around our building andcausing significant flooding in our basement,as well as damage to our nearbyfoundation wall. The
gentleman from the city informed us that this is what the city has insurance for and to seek remediation through a tort claim.
Attached below is the now paid invoice from Clearsprings for digging up and stopping the unmapped water line, then refilling and repairing
the dug up drive way.The other quotes are for the professionally estimated costs to repair the associated water damage caused to the
building.
