That is how we keep track of the number of complaints that are called in, and the ability to take the proper steps. For the quickest response for a barking dog complaint, please call dispatch 208-735-4375, this is how can track the times that the barking is called in. Then dispatch will create an event for animal control or an officer to be dispatched to the residence. For the uploading of the files, you will be sent link via your phone number to upload those files through that link, once an event/call to dispatch has been made, again the call to dispatch gives us the ability to track the complaints, and the events that we need for evidence. Below are the generally guidelines that we follow for barking dog issues. Barking Dog Complaints First complaint (within one year): Dispatch will need the address of where the barking dog is located and your name/address for our records. Once the officer has verified there is a dog at the address given that is barking excessively, or untimely: a verbal or written notice can be issued to the dog owner. Second Complaint (within one year): After giving the dog owner a week to comply with the first warning, a written warning can be issued if the complainant has video evidence of the dog in question barking excessively/untimely or the officer can confirm the dog in question is barking excessively, or untimely when on scene. Dispatch will request your name/address for our records. Video/audio evidence does need to be past the one week given for compliance. Third Complaint (within one year): 1 After giving the dog owner a week to comply with the second warning, the complainant can request to sign a citation for the barking dog if they:  have video/audio evidence of the dog in question barking. Video must be from complainants’ property, without antagonizing the dog, or trespassing onto other property. Evidence must be dated, and past the one week given for compliance.  can describe the residence (physically or by address), the dog in question and can verbally express that the dog’s barking is annoying or disturbing to the complainant.  is willing to sign citation, fill out a statement and is willing to testify in court. FAQs: (Q) The officer heard the dog barking when I called, why isn’t the officer citing the dog owner for their dog barking? (A) City and State code require the citizen file the complaint, as the officer’s peace cannot be disturbed. (Q) Can I call anonymously? (A) Yes. The officer can issue verbal/written notices, if the complaint is verified. However, no citation can be issued without a complaining party that is willing to sign a citation. (Q) Is the use of anti-barking ultrasonic sound devices allowed on my own property? (A) Currently, there is no city code preventing the use of anti-barking ultra-sonic devices. Ensure the devices are located on your own property at all times. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions. When you have a chance can you let me know the best way to submit audio evidence and in what format you can accept. I’m not very good at this whole audio technology thing so what I did was record days and days worth of evidence with a little voice recorder and then transferred that to a program called Audacity. From there I can export the file to an MP3, WAV, or OGG file. Is there any certain format that it needs to be? I’ll try to make this as clear and simple as possible so as to waste as little of your time as possible. I absolutely hate having to go this route but I feel it’s our only choice to save our sanity. Thanks for all of your help with this matter. Have a great weekend! So I just have to transfer the file from the little voice recorder thing I bought over to a file that I can submit. Once I’ve done that do I just email it to you or is there a different route I need to be taking? He has barked nonstop since about 7:30 this morning. It’s just unbearable. If an officer came over there is no doubt there would plenty of evidence to support some action being taken. Please let me know if there is anything that can be done while I’m getting these audio recordings prepared that I have taken over the past several weeks. Thank you! Thank you so much for getting back to me. The address is 609 Morning Sun Drive. Just woke up to him barking for 15 minutes straight before they let him back in. Thought I recorded it but obviously not awake enough to push the record button. No worries though, I’ll probably have 100 more opportunities today alone. We appreciate your help on this. Barking Dog 5 From: TIMI GENTRY <gentry.7@hotmail.com> Sent: Sunday, March 6, 2022 2:27 PM To: Sean Standley <Sstandley@tfid.org> Subject: Neighbors dogs barking \[EXTERNAL SENDER\] Hi Sean! How are you? Haven’t seen you forever. ?????? So we have finally come to our wits end! It has taken a couple of years to get to this point because Randy hasn’t ever wanted to do anything about it because he knew as soon as we did then our dogs would get out or something and the we have started a war by turning the neighbors in. But….it is beyond out of control now. Their one dog has barked incessantly for the past at least two years. We would try to ignore it but it would last for hours at times and probably funnels up to our house since we sit much higher than they do. Sometimes it would be so bad that we would just not be able to sit on our patio and enjoy the outside (even though it’s still plenty audible and distracting inside the house). They used to locked him in his kennel all day long in the middle of the summer and he would bark nonstop. It was super sad and I thought about calling Animal Control many times. Last summer they finally built a better fence that would contain him so I hoped he would be better since he didn’t have to sit inside a scorching hot kennel on concrete all day but that did not help. Every time they let him outside he just sits at their back door and barks until they let him back in so when they are gone all day he hardly stops. They will let him out at like 6:30 in the morning, while they get ready or something, and he’ll bark nonstop for a good half hour or so, waking up everyone in the neighborhood, and then they let him back in for a little while until they leave for work and then he’s at it again. Well now to make it better they have added a second dog who also barks constantly and they tend to feed off each other. As soon as one barks then the other one will start up too. Any little disturbance such as someone walking on the trail (which is quite often) will set them off. I honestly can’t take it anymore. It is 100% ruining our quality of life. When we are home we have to turn up the music or TV loud enough to drown them out or we go crazy. Randy works from home a bunch and it is ridiculously distracting. A friend of mine has experience int his area and he told me to contact you about this so I am reaching out to see what we would have to do to try to remedy this situation. Spring and summer are just around the corner and I would really like to enjoy the outside while we can. Please let me know what you would need from me to start whatever process would need to happen to get them to take care of their own dogs and not let them inconvenience everyone in the neighborhood. Thank you so much and I hope all is well! Timi Gentry Sent from Mail for Windows 6
