I’ll put my two cents in. I think we should keep the PVC and CIPP the line. Elmer has already looked up UV protective wrap and it isn’t crazy expensive and it’s available. I think it good to add supports and I believe we could do that even after they CIPP. We are updating the cost based on some estimates we put in a spreadsheet. Some of these numbers are kind of a shot in the dark, but we tried to include things we think need to be included and researched the best we could in a short period of time. The request is going to be for $150,000 based on our rough estimate. I will continue to update my spreadsheet as more information becomes available. I also wanted to note that I spoke with Joe Otero at DEQ (sent an email over to Brandi as well – haven’t heard back from her yet). Joe and I discussed the change in pipe type versus change in size. It seems like Brandi just needs to be kept up-to-date on what we are doing. Joe considers the change in pipe type still a ‘like for like’ swap if the size isn’t changing. Therefore, he does not require any engineered drawings for this. This leaves us with a few options. Below are what I understood from our conversations as the top 2 options. - Keep the PVC & CIPP the entire 800’+ o Wrap the pipe for UV protection o Add some supports for that section of pipe (deal with joint sagging) o Etc. - Replace the PVC portion with steel & CIPP the entire 800’+ o Figure out pipe connections o No additional supports needed o Etc. If there are other options you think we should consider, please let me know and I will do whatever is necessary to get this ready to go. My main concern is getting something done and getting it done as quickly as possible. Feel free to reach out with any questions. 1 Thanks guys, Samantha M. O’Leary, E.I.T. Please let us know if you are going to change the day you take this to the council meeting so we can keep DEQ updated. Nathan, Let’s check with Sam just to make sure our date is accurate in the letter. Please take a minute to review it and let me know if you have any concerns, edits, or corrections. I would like to file this tomorrow to make sure we meet the 5-day deadline. This one has a lot of attachments, but I included them because I think it helps tell the story. Thanks, Nathan Erickson Environmental Manager 2 City of Twin Falls (208) 735-7272 nerickson@tfid.org 3
