Good a?ernoon Mitch,
I ran a report (a?ached if you’d like detail) to see how events are answering the ques?on.
91% Yes = no one gets a commercial vending license, but organizer should make sure they follow the rules of
the code (i.e., health permit, fire safety inspec?on, etc.)
Per Gabe, he had one food truck reach out to him this summer, because event said “yes”, and then told
food truck to get fire s?cker
9% No = organizer should make sure vendors have a commercial vending license (which forces them to
follow the code)
I met with Gabe yesterday. Please let me know when you have about 15 minutes to discuss.
Thanks,
Janie

I guess I’m s?ll comfortable with the 2021 decision. Having said that, I have not been involved in the special event
process since then. Do we know if that choice has been difficult to administer with the various special events? If the
choice has been giving our team problems, then I’m okay to review and try something different. But in the absence of
issues, I’m good with that selec?on con?nuing to be offered.

Subject: Commercial Vending at Special Events
Good morning Mitch,
We’re upda?ng two Laserfiche processes, and I’m checking to see if something we put in place in 2021 should be
incorporated into the newer versions of these processes.
Relates to Title 3: Special Events
Commercial Vending
In 2021 we discussed vendors (i.e., food trucks) at special events, and how they fit in with our commercial vending
license requirement in Title 3.
We discussed forcing every vendor to have a City license, or having the event pay for a license (which is $100) to cover
all vendors, but there are administra?ve issues with both of those, and our main concern is safety, not collec?ng $100.
Therefore, per the a?ached historical email from April 2021, we added a ques?on to the special event applica?on:
Does event organizer take responsibility for all the vendors at their event?
Yes = no one gets a commercial vending license, but organizer should make sure they follow the rules of the
code (i.e., health permit, fire safety inspec?on, etc.)
No = organizer should make sure vendors have a commercial vending license (which forces them to follow the
code)
Should what we implemented in 2021 be incorporated into these two newer versions of exis?ng Laserfiche
processes? Are you s?ll comfortable with the decision from 2021?
Special Events – Mike and a team of stakeholders have been working on a new form / process – does the
ques?on from the exis?ng special event form need to be included in the new form?
2
Commercial Vending – we’ve had complaints about the form and process being difficult. I’m working with a
team to make it more user-friendly. (S?ll based on exis?ng City code, just making it easier to use)
o Here is a link to the work-in-progress if you’re interested -it is NOT public, only a few City employees
have access during the design process h?ps://forms.?id.org/Forms/CommercialVendingNEW
o I have an informa?onal sec?on and planned to include this – is this appropriate?
I’d appreciate your feedback.
Thank you,
Janie Higgins
