From CSI HeadStart/Early HeadStart Child Abuse Awareness Month Follow Up Flag:Follow up Flag Status:Flagged No, we have not. I did a little searching… The first email regarding this event came on February 7 with date in April to be determined. Chief Kingsbury forwarded this to Lt. Stotts and included me. This came right around the same day that Harrison Elementary sent their request to the chief and Lt. Stotts reached out and wanted the SROs to cover the Harrison event. I responded that the SROs may be a little preoccupied due to the crazy schedule in April and May. This is the first I have seen a date for the Headstart event and unfortunately that is the day of the Secret Service safety presentation that all of the SROs will be at from 8:00 to 12:00, so our team won’t be able to attend. I was anticipating that at least some of the admin would be joining us for the safety presentation, so I don’t know what that means for the Headstart event. Just keeping you in the loop… Dusty From: Justin Dimond <jdimond@tfid.org> Sent: Monday, March 25, 2024 2:22 PM To: Dusty Solomon <dsolomon@tfid.org> Subject: FW: ATTN. From CSI HeadStart/Early HeadStart Child Abuse Awareness Month \[EXTERNAL SENDER\] Good afternoon, I am following up on behalf of all of us at the Twin Falls CSI Early Head Start/ Head Start Center, to invite you to visit our Head Start program at 308 Falls Avenue West, Twin Falls ID 83301 on April 24th at 10 A.M. During your visit to our center, you will have the chance to tour our facility, meet the staff and amazing teachers behind Head Start and plant Pin Wheels with the children in honor of Child Abuse Awareness month. You will also have the chance to learn more about how Head Start in Twin Falls serves our community's most vulnerable children and families. As you may know, Head Start is the only coordinated preschool system in the country that serves three- and four-year- old children. In our Community, Twin Falls CSI Early Head Start/ Head Start Center is modeled to best meet the needs of our children and families, and families share in the decision making and governance to ensure its success. At our Head Start Center, we have the privilege of currently serving 75 children and their families. Head Start has been working for over 50 years to provide quality early learning experiences for our children and families, so they may flourish and become thriving members of our community. Recognizing that parents are their children's first and most influential teachers, we work with families to remove barriers and deepen their abilities to support their children in school and life. Research has shown that because of the services and resources we provide, parents of Head Start students are more likely to read with their children, increase their own education, and offer more stimulating home environments than non-Head Start parents. Children who 2 participate in Head Start are less likely to need special education classes or repeat grades when they are older; they are more likely to graduate high school, attend college, and help their families escape the cycle of poverty. We hope you can find time to join us for this important event. We look forward to seeing you. Thank you in advance for considering our invitation and for all that you do on behalf of children and families in the Magic Valley. Below I have attached the flyer with all of the information on this event. Sincerely, Calista Jensen Policy Council Member, IHSA Representative and Parent Twin Falls CSI Early Head Start/ Head Start Center (928) 301-6494 3
