Subject: Proposed striping changes for this year
When: Thursday, April 4, 2024 1:30 PM-2:30 PM (UTC-07:00) Mountain Time (US & Canada).
Where: CH-221CR-10seats
Good morning; see the attached drawings.
I understand that Tracy and Mark are updating the Zone Maintenance map, but I want to discuss this year's proposed striping changes; some of these have been problematic areas (with drivers)
in the past and may be outside this year's scheduled zone maintenance. Wally has also included the square yardage for the surface treatment calculations on the drawings. I recognize
that everything depends on available money, but this will help prioritize jobs so we’re all on the same page.
-Grandview/Falls all-way stop (striping change on Grandview only, out to about 1200’ north of Falls). It’s very likely that if this intersection doesn’t meet an all-way stop warrant,
it will soon (based on expected volumes and the 85%tile speeds), with the new business being built on the NW corner. Traffic studies are in the works for this location.
-Orchard/Harrison met the all-way stop warrant in 2023. On Orchard (from Harrison to Gregory Way), restriping and adding turn lanes into Pinecrest. Also, the programable Speed-check
signs cost was sent to Pinecrest with the offer that when they installed them, we would maintain them. (I understand they are taking the proposal to their board, and we’re waiting for
their response.)
-Harrison St (the north leg of the Orchard/Harrison intersection) will be striped this summer when the paving is finished.
Cheney/Parkview met the all-way stop warrant in 2023. This intersection continues to be one of our more difficult-to-drive areas, especially for SB vehicles trying to connect with the
EB Cheney movement during peak hours. We’ve put together another all-way stop proposal to help make crossing or merging onto Cheney from Parkview less nerve-racking.
